Have you ever thought about what it would be like to have someone analyze your closet, or shop personally for you?
How about a put together outfit suited just for you, for that special occasion coming up?
Well if you like the sound of that so far, I have a treat for you today!
Meet Khalilah (pronounced like Delilah with a “K”), owner and professional image consultant for Chic and Classy Image Consulting.
Khalilah has an impressive list of notable achievements and still answered her calling for this passion she’s carried from a very young age. She’s also answered tons of questions from those that know her, specifically she shared, “ I have received phone calls, text messages and emails with fashion questions every single day for about as long as I can remember.“
I don’t know about you, but I think that in itself speaks for her ability! I caught up with Khalilah the other day to find out some specifics regarding HER own closet! Here are some more goodies!
LP: What is a wardrobe piece you can’t do without and why?
Khalilah: So, you are just going to pull out the big guns right off the bat I see. Whew! I think I would have to go with my plethora of belts. Particularly, I die for my obi belts that I have bought on clearance from the Limited over the past 5 years. I love these belts because they are reversible (at least I wear them as such), the colors and textures are so rich and amazing, lastly and most importantly they cinch the heck out of my waist and really create an illusion of an hourglass silhouette.
LP: What is a wardrobe frustration for you?
Khalilah: As a Wardrobe Stylist and Image Consultant, I am very cognizant of what works best on my body. My biggest frustration in regards to wardrobe nowadays is that a lot of clothing is very poorly made! I tried on a maxi dress the other day and you may as well have been looking thru a window with how sheer it was!
LP: What advice would you give to switch up your wardrobe pieces?
Khalilah: In order to switch up wardrobe pieces, I advise my clients, first and foremost, to NEVER purchase anything that they cannot wear at least 3 different ways with items already in their closet. Next, I am a staunch supporter of wardrobe management. What this means is I create a calendar with certain wardrobe challenges for each day of the month i.e. “mixed prints”, “preppy”, “florals”. These challenges enable me to think outside the box and see my wardrobe thru a different pair of eyes, in essence, shop my own closet!
Well I definitely enjoyed this exchange with Khalilah and appreciate her pointers! I’m sure we can all takeaway something that will help us with our own wardrobes! I especially like the idea of creating a wardrobe challenge calendar!
